1st Muppet of 2006?

OK, I dropped the beast. Would probably sound good if I said I highsided her getting on the gas too early while trying to stuff an R1 out of Charlies, alas I would be fibbing!

Reality was I dropped it on the sencond lap out on the entry to Charlie 1, although I thought I was "cruising" and gently warming things through, I obviously wasn't "cruising" enough! Got absolutely no warning at all, the thing simply lowsided and slid onto the grass.

Busted the footpeg and brake peg and scuffed my no longer shiny new fairings, but was out again next session and the fairings will soon fix up. Despite the right hand lowside, the Corse carbon clutch cover protected the clutch!

Coincidentally, two other riders came off at the same spot, one of them in more or less exactly the same spot - his scrape markes run about 2inches parallel to mine!

So it's official, unless there are some other takers, Yeti claims the 2006 Muppet of the Year award.

FWIW, the track temp today was two thirds of naff all, and whilst the sun came out for a while, it was soon followed by snow/sleet/hail showers!

Ah well, teach me to track in February!

really sorry to hear that you dropped her but as for the first muppet of 2006 i think i beat you to it when i dropped my bike off the work bench having just finished it - with the result it smashed the screen to pieces ( i had no spare ) and collected my 600ss and leg on the way down........!

hope you get it sorted soon - look forward to seeing it !

Was running 207GP's, I was using warmer's but my front one seems to have stopped working between Donny last November and today, so YES, the tyres were cold.

FWIW, JR pitched up for a while and he said there was no way he would have gone out today on anything less than full wets, the softer the better and stuff the expense.

Am I pleased with the bike? If I'm honest the spill really screwed my confidence, so didn't really feel like pushing it. Even though I've dropped bikes before, I've always known why. This one truly shocked me. I quite genuinely believed I was taking it really steady, and I got no warning at all. In later sessions I could feel her telling me that she was about to let go, which made the spill all the more baffling.

That said I found that by taping up 3/4 of the rad it kept the engine temp up in the high 70's so the misfire seems to have gone. Looks like it was the cold start system after all.

However, she was definately overgeared for Cadwell, Corsa's run a very tall first gear, and I found I could hold 1st all the way from the entry to the chicane right onto the start/finish straight, so I'm def gonna drop the gearing when I next run Cadwell.

Still don't think she's picking up as cleanly as she should, but that was maybe just me being a woose with the throttle, I probably needed to open her up a bit harder.

Plus Cadwell definately showed me the suspension is set too soft, but that's easily rectified. Just need to decide whether to risk another cold and wet one on 12th March, or wait for "hopefully" better weather.
