desmo series (whats the best bike to get)

hi all
i am looking to compete in the race series but unsure of what model to get!!!
after years of racing a 125 gp at club/national events. this year i opted to build a honda hawk 650 minitwin and after spending over 3+k i hear that this series is running (arse) so my minitwin is going to make way (my loss someone els'es gain) so i can come and join you guy's

i like the fact that it's well controlled (i hope)
and i'm not having to race a c/ship every other w/end

any machine and general info you could pass on to me would be most gratefull

Hi,

first off, best to check out the current rules for DD

http://217.199.188.40/xmb/viewthread.php?tid=13180

If wanting to obtain the best results you can, I'd say go for a 620 engine as they are putting out about 62 - 64 hp std.

Welcome hawk. Hope you enjoy the club

While you're at the virtual bar I'll have a large latte.

Now, plenty of race experience .... national level ... hrmmm, what you need is a nice 583cc monster, preferably something around a 94 model with about 100,000 miles on the clock with the big end about to go and just leave it standard, you'll be fine

Give us a chance mate!!!

IMO the best bike for the series would be a 620 monster with a 6 speed box and twin disks. Then you can do what you want with it from there (clip-ons, bodywork etc ...).

Hope that helps.

Welcome to the board, mines a Red Bull please

You'll notice in the rules that...

"2006

For the 2006 series, entrants will have to have been members of the
Club as at 1 March 2005, novice licence holders or not have raced for
at least 5 years."

...dunno how that will affect you?

TP's right though, you need to find the oldest, roughest pile of nails you can get your hands on

and:

"Discretion may be shown by the committee towards entrants who do not meet all of these criteria, but who are entering in the spirit of the series.

These rules will not apply to guest riders who will not socre points"

can sell you a 583 engine or 2

It's almost unbelievable, but with the exception of a couple of 'smokers'... not one single engine has expired yet!!

How amazing is that!?!?!?

...and they get so hot, that even an hour after a race, you still can't touch the engine casing due to the extreme heat.
