Roll Centre T100 - basic but, does the job. It's wot I use. The T200 has the facility to hook up to a pc if you want to download your data.

Don't bother buying a beacon - every circuit I raced at in 2005 had a beacon anyway. If it's turned off then you can always piggy back onto somebody else's beacon.

Hi Chris,

Just bought a T200 direct from rollcentre £99+vat, came two days later. I'll be using it for TDs, free practice, timed practice, but probably not during the race. Got to have one, if only to stop me hanging around waiting for timing sheets....

I found mine very useful when doing timed practice at MRO and setup. I took it off for race use as the only thing that matters is where you finish. Make sure you take spare batteries for it - my T100 seems to devour the damn things even when it's turned "off".

I may be on my own here but my season last year improved when I ignored the lap times and just rode the bike LOL
So for me I don't run one

It's pretty much essential if you are running timed qualifying imo. You need to know where you are.

I find my t200 is helpful during practice days when you can swap gearing and see how it effects your lap times.
Once the gearing is sorted it becomes fairly redundent, I have it turned on in untimed and timed quallifying but only to check at the end to see what lap times I was doing

You will normally have some idea of what a competitive pace is if you've done your homework. One thing to remember is not to spend yime watching the timer too often!

What I often did was go out and for a few laps just warm the bike and tyres up, then I'd run off a few quick laps to qualify and then I'd slow down again, check the times and, then put a few more in the bag for safety if needed.

They're a useful tool - not a panacea. And I don't need one to tell me when I'm riding like a dick.
