[quote=Twinfan]Is the LC/RC "Left compression, right rebound"? i.e. one adjust on each? My 749S has rebound and compression on each fork.

Mmmmmm - now that is interesting ! and weird, not sure if i like that idea as i like a trackday or two and my 748 suspension was set up by moto louigi and i did notice a big difference. I was wondering what the front fork difference was.

I'm sure the latest GP bikes (certainly Rossi's Ohlins) have compression and rebound damping split that way - I think I read it somewhere. It stops the oil overheating and breaking up during a race as it's not put under as much stress.

It'll be a cost thing on the Dark though, and I reckon on anything less that full whack on a track the best option is compression and rebound on each fork.

have just asked the ducati dealer the question and it seems that you get compression and preload but not rebound - i guess i would have to try it out and see if it made any difference to me.

With respect:
I can't believe anyone would be put off a bike because of corroded disc bolts!

If it bothers you, then a few stainless bolts would cost pennies relative to the cost of the bike. Anyway, I doubt the disc fixings are much different between different Ducati models.

That's like dismissing a second-hand car because the ashtrays were full!

PS I think the KB referred to is kwikbitch, or some such.

The standard 749 nor the dark either one have adjustable rake. The 1 deg adjustment is only on the S/R. The stalling issue is also only on the '04 and older bikes from my research. I'd bet you could get a VERY clean used '05 749 for the price of a brand new dark. Might could even find a S if you were patient and looked hard enough.

actually i like the multistrada and my observation on the disc bolts was purely that - when i last test rode one i didn't like the vibration when you put the front brakes on either, but the concept makes alot of sense especially for 90% of the riding i seem to do at the moment. the disc fixing on the MTS 1000 is peculiar to that model - i think you will find. Oh and some people won't buy secondhand cars previously owned by smokers. Thanks for everyones advice - will see what deal i can get.
