A friend noticed on my 999r that the race kit is one link pipe with back box, the link link pipe has no catalyst and replaces the standard one which does have one.
He asked that why isnt there one on each pipe.
Now that sounds like a good question!
Its got me wondering, but surely wont this upset things like the gas back pressure balance and a whole load of other things etc if there is a catalyst on just one pipe(cylinder)
Nope. One cat in the box for the rear cylinder, and one in the long link pipe for the front cylinder. That's why the asymmetric system gives you a box, a link pipe and an ECU
i was going to put a balanced system on, i had ordered a 57mm corse ti termi system but after seeing what ducati have done with regards to marketing bikes specifically shafting 999r owners i cancelled. I know we have always paid for having the latest/greatest etc but i think for 05MY they really are taking the p*** Seems to me like ducati have lost the plot a bit and feel reluctant to throw good money after bad. Still seriously looking at a 'sedici but have been put off a bit by it all. sorry, thinking of buying a 911 instead! rant over!:P
