Suspension eccentric

For those of you with adjustable ride heights with an eccentric at the top of the rear shock linkage,could you please tell me in what position you have yours in?Mine is currently at the 4 O'clock position.I 've been told anywhere betwen 5-8 is best.I have tried this,but at slow speeds(ie round town),the bike feels really "tippy".I know there is now more weight over the front.Is this a trade off for the quicker steering?

Mine is rotated 2 notches anti clockwise from your picture. Works fine.

As this discussion is about suspension settings can I ask what everybody uses to pump up the underseat reservoir for the rear shock? I was using air but was told to use nitrogen. I'd love to know which is correct. ( Sorry to hijack the thread )

you should use nitrogen (so I've been told) - a lot of people use oxy from an air line, but Nitrogen is much more stable under extremes of temperature and you'll find that your rear shock doesn't go off as quickly !

Nitrogen is the prefered gas, many advantages to it. All aircraft use nitrogen for struts, accumulators etc, for tyres as well. You just have to have a supply.
Straight oxygen should not be used, and never ever ever mixed with oil. It combusts.

Thanks Jasper, thought it might have been as I've never touched it.
