Waterproofing

I've ordered a waterproofing spray from Halfords. Apparently it's suitable for canvas/nylon. Am I in danger or ruining my (v. expensive) Rukka gear? Alternative appears to be have it done by an outdoor/camping shop in Hemel which Motor Cycles and Moore recommended. At £40 a pop for that vs £6 for spray, wot to do? Or should I get it back to Rukka. Now 6 yrs old, no longer guaranteed, I assume. Any advice?

I recommend Nikwax waterproofing spray or wax. I used on my letahers at Cadwell Friday - and good job too as forgot my oversuoit and it tipped it down most of the day! Stayed dry the entire time. Good for leather/canvas/Nylon/Gore-Tex/pretty much anything. Not spensive either. Can be had from Heine Gerricke or most camping outlets.

Hope this helps.

Be careful when applying Nikwax - a few years ago I waterproofed a tent with the stuff and at that time you couldn't get it in spray form so it had to be applied with an old cloth soaked in the liquid. It meant that my hands were waterproofed for 4 days afterwards !!

It was very difficult to hold onto the knife and fork that week......
