Don't trust it tho... it's up and down all over the place

Also, it can transfix you a bit... find yourself staring at it, and trying to ride to 'beat your record'. Bit dangerous actually.

The point at which you could sensibly have a look is when you're stationary - but it reads "00" !

That's why I love Italian engineering so much :-)

If it ain't rocket science, then how come the tefal heads at Bologna don't change the "Cons" to "Dist" (for distance) or similar?
When mine went on reserve it looked like the consumption figure stayed as a "Consumption Figure".

Anyone fancy starting a "Wish List" thread for 999:
dbubble screen as standard, so us tall gits can see the warning lights
rear hugger as standaard
"Cons" change to "Dist" when on reserve
LCD display change to screaming face when oil cooler fails
lean angle count down-ometer

anymore?

Mood: going for a ride...
The figure dislayed in Cons is tank range at current riding speed / throtlle position at all times , it's Italian remember , it may stand for conservation , not consumption , who knows , fill up when the light comes on or at 100 miles , that definitely isn't rocket science

Here's another tip , the standard screen as fitted to 749R's (and presumably 999R's) is slightly higher and you can see the lights quite clearly add one of those to your wish list instead

Ran out of petrol today for the first time. Just for the avoidance of doubt....

The number that CONS gives = the no of miles that you have from the instant the light goes on. Not, repeat not, how many miles you've got left in the tank. Hence, if the light has been on for a while, the CONS reading is irrelevant.

When mine ran out, the CONS was reading 25...

Ned

Thanks for that, Ned. It's best to find these things out. Sorry you had to be the guinea pig!
