Bobbins to you

Guys,

What do you all use on your paddock stands, cups or bobbins? If you use bobbins how did you attach them?

Bobbins
Alloy SS arm, I tap and drill the billet bit that locates the adjusters

http://www.ducatisportingclub.com/sh...ad.php?t=85020

On the steel arms I make up threaded inserts from alloy bar that slide up inside the swingarm box section and bolt them from the wheel side of the arm with M8 Domed head allen bolts and from the outside of the arm with M8 Bobbins

I must admit that I used the standard (read: cheap!) cups on mine, but I did pack the arms with spacers (thick penny washers) to fix the position they were in, making it easier to get it on and off.

I have done the Same as Skids on my aluminium swingarm. Easy to do and effective. The only advice I would give is to mount a large O/D bobbin that will take the force of a low side or such.

Bobbins. So much easier than cups.
I just drilled a plain hole and secured inside the swingarm with a washer and nyloc.
Just make sure the fixing doesn't restrict the full movement of the chain adjuster blocks!

The previous owner of my bike drilled hole and fitted bobbins in mine but they have used m14 bolts!! They are huge and getting a spanner inside swing arm is a pain in backside, so had to use screwdriver to lock it off to remove them. I'd say m8 m10 bobbins more than substantial. edit edit he he he

That was lucky then as M14 bolts usually require a 22mm spanner for the Nut, would have been an even bigger pain

I bored a Ø20 hole through both box sections, on the ally and the steel one.
Then welded in a length of bar which was pre drilled and tapped M8x1.25, 50% through.

This then accepts the general ebay bobbins.

No, for std thread metric fasteners its bolt size minus pitch. so your plain hole will be 6.8mm as a 6.75mm drill bit is not readily available. Or if you only have imperial sizes use a 17/64" drill bit.
