S had only a steel swingarm for a start and all 900SS with 5 spoke wheels would have the Ohlins rear.
All 1000SS had Ohlins and the very last also went to red frame and black wheels

Sure you could get an extensive breakdown via google ;0)

Is there something pedantic or a nuance I'm missing; supersport = SS or is it super sport SS ?

mind you, with Ducati, they could have fitted anything to hand!!

900 SS is supersport
900 S is sport

Ps think I'm the pedant getting annoyed with dealer calling sports supersports

well I for one would never have known! Everything is an SS to me

nothing wrong with being a pedant if it helps others not get ripped off

Your point about not knowing is exactly why it annoys me

seems researching inst the answer either...

http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/bi...0SS-1990-2002/

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ducati_SuperSport

clear as mud then.....SS is SuperSport and only mention of an S is as a lower spec SS - so still an SS then

Same guy has bike listed on MCN as 900 S

In a nutshell from mcn

Ducati 900S: Budget version of the 900SS. Sold from November 2001-2002.

Painting it and declaring as an SS is simply misleading
