Front Mudguard Removal

Hi,

I have just tried to remove the front mudguard from my 996. The two bolts on one side were no problem but on the other side it appears that the captive nut in the plastic clip that goes round the fork leg is spinning round with the bolt.

Whats the best thing to do? Cut the clip off and replace it and keep the bolts lubed with copperslip? Is this a common problem?

Cheers
Simon

Yep common problem, sometimes I crush the plastic onto the captive nut with a set of pipe grips, doesn't always work, but often does.
Copper slip is a must on reassembley
Think new ones were about £8 each last time I purchased some

Cheers for the info. Snells keep them as a stock item so i'll be getting a couple and be £16 lighter

Yep, as Kev said - I ended up buying new rings when taking the forks off my ST4s.

I replaced the bolts with stainless to rule out rusting as well.
