I've currently got a set of termi cans fitted, but in a couple of weeks I've got an Edge 44 assesment with on of the local bike plod, sooo, thinking sensibly I want to refit the standard cans, and not mark myself out as a hooligan
How easy is it? I'm reasonably technically minded, is it a challenge or just more of a big jigsaw that's a Bu&&er to assemble?
It's not too difficult at all jason. Swapped mine recently for MOT time. A couple of points to think about though.... Getting the holes to line up was a bit of a puzzle - succeeded after a lot of tugging on the pipes. I'm assuming that where the original pipes were sitting in the attick for ages that the temp changes had slightly mis-shaped them, but it wasn't too much trouble. Another thing I found out was that the silencer clamps from the Termi's don't fit the standard cans so not having the original clamps, I had to fashion some out of some old ally plate I had lying about. This was a total bodgit job so I'd recommend you get some original clamps if you've not already got some. And finally...... watch out for them springs - they bite!
Jason - check with them first. I spoke to a guy about this corse at the end of last year and he seemed ok with race cans...now number plates, different story...otherwise, as Nick says, should't be too much of a problem. Only done it once but took less than an hour - springs are the fiddly bit.
A local expert I can call on then when it all goes wrong...
I'll call them and check and may give it a miss then, MOT's next spring and trackdays would be the only other reason to swap them, and I've not booked any yet
Number plates fine, got sick of being pulled for a slightly smaller one on the R1.
Originally posted by NBs996 I too am pretty local Jason. It won't go wrong but throw me a u2u if you need some assistance mate, I'll bring my spanner and spring puller!
