new chain?

I have a 2000 996 and am changing the gearing to 15-41. Stock is 15/36. Do I need a new chain?

Yes. However, you can get the identical gearing with a 14/38 combination and you can still use your stock chain.

Most riders first change to a 14/36 to use the stock Euro gearing and keep their stock chain.

Then, they may change to a 14/39 for the track (it's slightly lower gearing than 15/41) but both are generally too low for the highway.
