So much wrong, where to start?? What's most worrying is that the guy has obviously spent ages cultivating his rating up to the magic 10 (when you get yer first star) with products for 99p, then tries to sell something for £4.5k.....

The copy's definitely knoicked from another add, and the pics don't match.

A poor attempt, must try harder. D-

How do you mean the pics don't match? Look fine to me, except he's got stickers which aren't the same on either side! A Ferrari logo on one side and a Shell on the other!

The bike looks correct for a 916SPS and it is 996cc as described.

What do you think is wrong?

I looked at the Techcafe on Ducati site and it states that the forks are Ohlins on the 916SPS - on the Website he says they are Showa up front - could have had a smash I suppose?? Also, and according to other DSC'ers, it should have a plate on the yoke.

He does supply 'a' phone number which is kind of unusual for a scammer and he doesn't do the dodgy escrow trick either.

The jury is still out - I'm not sure, I'll probably buzz him - Any definitive Q's I could ask him / her?

Paul

Would you consider parting with more than £4,500 without seeing it and riding it first?

I would say that looks genuine.

Tell us what you think is wrong with it Ali.

916SPS comes with showa front forks, ohlins came on the 2000 spec 996SPS!!

So what else is wrong? Looks a little cheap,it may be a "bargin"!!

I'm eating my words here.... So used to seeing people with v.dodgy histories selling bikes at well below book price that I instantly jump into my SuperCynic cape.

I, too, thought SPSs only came with Ohlins. I also thought they had carbon termis on as standard, but should remember that they've still got to be road legal to be registered... arse.

Add that to the dodgy stickers and his last purchase of a tv for 99p and it all sounded liek one of these groups that sell stuff to each other to boost ratings then flog something big for a fortune.

I stand, humbly, corrected....

Must try harder, E+.

ali

added: also thought they had 5-spoke marchinesis, but was that the 955??

Don't forget the 916SPS was a very early bike in the line of specials - certainly nothing like a Foggy rep or the 996SPS.

I agree though that it's always better to be very careful and go and look first before bidding - who would honestly buy a second-hand bike just from a few pics in a private sale? Not many I hope!
