do i have to get bike serviced by official ducati dealer ?
will it invalidate warranty if i don't ?
is this too much for the service ?

I had the same service done at an official ducati dealer (Pro Twins) and ended up paying £185 - bargain!! (& they stopped it cutting out). They said you don't have to do all the work in the ducati schedule - they advised I only get the time-related stuff done as I'd only done about 1500 miles since it's 1st service. The quoted £540 is the price you'll pay if you have all the work done.

My bikes booked in for another service with them in a couple of weeks & they've quoted £700 - ker ching!!!

Got it back last Saturday. The final bill - £330. That was for a minor service + new belts. Highly recommend Pro-Twins if you're in the South-East.

I can vouch for Ducati Leeds customer service. I haven't had them do any spannering for me but, I bought my 2nd 800 from them and they were absolutely spot on. Helpful, friendy and very interested in what I was intending to do with the bike. I'd use them again without question if I needed to.

Any thoughts?

Just dug my invoice out, yep Motul Oil, not Shell Advance, bikes not here at the moment so am unable to see if they have changed the sticker on the casing ???

DCR

Not a problem using a different oil as long as it meets the same recognised specifications. The manual will list a grade of Shell Oil, and then by Euro law, list the necessary specifications for others oils to comply with.

Shell will pay Ducati fortunes to have the listing in the book and the sticker on the case, but, you can use other oils.

I spent £850 on my 999s big service at Riders in Bristol last summer and it came back with less paint than it went in with, namely a patch on the frame to the front of the tank. They claimed it was tape which when removed took the paint with it. The response was sorry if you trade it in with us we wont penalise you for it. Its out of warranty now so Louigi Moto here I come.
