Question for SP owners...

Has anyone with an SP2/3/4 or 5 changed the standard alloy exhaust cans for carbon Termignonis?

The standard alloy cans were made by Termignoni too, (and were made specifically to suit the SP's), so will fitting carbon cans give any real power gains?

There are some on eBay at the moment, but the reserve price seems to be somewhere around £500+. That's a lot to pay for cans if their only plus point is the Termi stickers. What do you think..?

Cheers
Steve

Mood: Scared! The SP4 hates me!!
Termis

I understand that the only difference between carbon and ally termis is weight. You can replace the ally sleeves with carbon items (if you can find em - pair on ebay a few months ago) And also they do, in my opinion look much nicer.

Standard ally also came with Mickey Mouse baffle plates that every owner binned on delivery.

Cheers

SP4 victim.

Yeah Sparkin, (aka JASPER!) the SP5 had carbon. Didn't think when I typed the question.

I'm just wondering whether to bid on these. They ain't going to be cheap, and if there's no power gain there's not much point. Saving weight isn't much of an issue really - since I only weigh 10st myself!

Steve,

An open can is an open can, assuming all the Termi dimensions are the same. As you say, is it worth the Bling fee

Sorry JASPER! I'm trying to do too many things at once mate. All my posts are going to pot! Suggesting SP5's have cheeepy alloy cans for a start! How could I? As to mixing my Avatars - maybe you should get one showing your bike's JASP registration? That way, I'd never get it wrong would I? (Hmm. Maybe multi-tasking ain't my forte!)

I'm not desperate for the cans, but I'm intending to start a bit of a tidy up job on my SP. The alloy ones its got are ok, but not mint, and the pipes themselves need a good polish. Apart from that, and the flaking engine lacquer, everything else is fine.

(Oh! Apart from the lack of carbon heat shield on the pipes, which has probably caused the leak which has suddenly appeared around the rear Ohlins seal, and the glowing alternator light which has meant I've had to order a new rectifier, and the battery which has suddenly grown weak as a consequence of the rectifier failing etc. etc!)

Now, where's Nattyboy when you need him?

Hey Jasper, you can't speak of power difference between the carbon cans against alloy cans if you use a Spaghetti system.
I mean, in this context.

You can speak of a comparison between a standard collector with a spaghetti collector, that difference is huge. But is you use a spaghetti with an alloy can or carbon can, that would not give a difference I guess (if they are both 50mm).
