I'm late on this post also but ....

with the analogy of the 911 - the evolution with that is very comparible to the superbike Ducati range. But as with Ducati fans, porsche fans love certain models. Some porsche lovers reckon the 993 model was the last of the ultimate 911 (just like 998R). It was the older shape, air-cooled and had all the character of the original car.

The Ducati 999 and it's replacement for the 916 range got similar feedback to the new porsche 996/997 range. Side by side the 996/997 911 was far superior but everyone loved the older models.

Why didn't we have the same reaction when Ducati replaced 888 with 916? Was it just because it looked better?

has to be the 916sp theres no other bike i could go in the cold garage and just sit and look at
