the old red key saga

i bought a 749s without the red key (i know dont all shout at once!!!!!)
everything works ok except the rev counter it does its usuall checks and resets itself however doesnt work when the enging starts i have opened the cover and on the circuit board there is a blown chip and resister. i took it to farnells electrical in leeds and they cant help as they dont know what type of resister or chip it is.

if i buy another clock im buggered as i dont have the red key.............please has anybody any ideas

oh i forgot to say i have the black key and the key card with the numbers can you order a red key off ducati if you have that??

Hello Andy,
i shant say a word !!!!
been there done that !!
anyway i have the same problem , as far as i am aware the ducati card holds no information that will assist you, basically you are stuffed, you cant fit any other clocks, as you said.

But take a picture of the components damaged and of the complete pcb in the clocks let me have the specification of the components i.e. any writting and i will see what i can do as electronics is my trade, no promisses, but we are in with a fighting chance, where are you ? besides home !!!

thanks phillip, ill get a picture taken tomorrow as my camera wont focus in for some reason. i live in leeds

Thanks Mark,
as long as i can identifiy the components then it is easy to replace and all should be fine, would be useful to anyone else that has that problem in the future,
Andy what is the warranty staus on your bike bike?
