Transponder

Does anyone have a transponder for sale, or any info as to the best place to get one from?

They tend to fetch quite a price. Hire charge from Hottrax is £15 for the weekend but with a deposit of £50 refundable on return of transponder.

Its the AMB 260 transponder if you go for 2nd/hand. count the number of flashes of the telltale lamp. 5 flash is max lasts for 5 days. My one is 3 flashes and has been for since 2009. that lasts all weekend.

I might have to sell/auction one of mine, but need to get one of them tested first as I've never used it on track, I know the other two work fine

Lookd like AMB are now Mylaps and leasing one for a year or two is cheaper than hiring the hottrax ones.

From the Hottrax Championship Conditions

7 TRANSPONDERS
All competitors will be required to fit an AMB 260 Transponder (or equivalent) to their motorcycles for the purpose of accurate timing. They will be required to purchase or hire the transponder as a condition of entry. Competitors may be charged for the repair or replacement of Transponders and/or holders due to accident damage, loss or misuse at any time during the season. Transponders owned by the team may be used at no extra cost.
Transponder hire is £25 for a meeting and a bracket is available to purchase at £10 each. These are available at the circuit. Transponders must be fitted in the approved manor using the correct brackets for the transponder supplied. A deposit in cash of £40 is required which will be returned once the transponder is returned. This must be done within 30 minutes of the end of the last race or the deposit will be lost. No other electronic timing equipment may be placed within 5 metres of the Start / Finish line at any event. Any unofficial equipment placed within this area will be removed.

You can get AMB the brackets for £5 away from the circuit. The price is inflated as the demand is there and the supply isn't.
