Smile 1198s arrived yesterday So far 200 miles on it :-)
well i was on it all day yesterday and this morning. there is a very slight fuel problem around 3000 rpm and 4000 rpm (just like the 996 had) but ive put this down to the bike still needing to be run in.

so far the corse rear sets from 996 fitted without any mods except needed m8 bolts and nuts rather than the original bolts as the holes on the frame are off by around 2mm. fork protectors needed a little addition to make them fit correctly but so far so good. As usual the oil cooler has no protection so put some mesh on it to catch/ protect a bit further.

anyway i thought id drop some picies. still smiling

Red face
I bought them originally from ebay for £200 plus packaging the guys still selling some on their now.

Must say they work a treat on both bikes, plus they look better than the drilled hole jobbies that ive seen for the same price.

got to say. For bu66ery sake get a new comfy seat or rear sets on any 1198 or 1098 you might buy. Straight away! Nearly lost my family jewels twice yesterday going over some naff bumpy roads! much better now the 996 reasets on it.

they are just not good looking are they, give me a 749 / 999 anytime.

Only joking, very nice indeed.

Is that frame the same colour as the original 916, looks close? The wheels look a bit 996 inspired or is it my imagination. Clever gestures if they are, Reinforcing the ties between the 916 and new bike?

would have been a lot cheaper to go 999 but it would have to be in race form with day light mot, for me.

the colour is close but not 100% plus its a mat finish with no laquer.
