Not heard of one being fitted to a 583. As the fuel pressure is a lot lower the risks associcated with a fuel leak are lower .
But to protect the engine I would probaly wire it in so that it dropped out a relay to cut the feed to the fuel pump or the feed t the coils

I just like the motor to cut before it can starve of oil Kev! I guess there's less chance of that on a carb motor though unless the thottle stuck flat out

Actually, I had a spill during the TD at Snett before the races and the engine was running horizontal for less than 20 seconds at idle revs. The engine started to loose power progressively during the races. Opened the engine and the big end bush of the front rod was loose and worn out to copper. Veery lucky I didn't blow the engine!
The only explanation is the 20 seconds horizontal. So Chaz, let me know if you find a suitable switch please.

Got the switch looking at the best way to wire it Alex.

Chaz does the switch make (Close) or break (open) when it is tilted over

in that case I would wire it in on the earth side of a relay coil, so that when tilted the relay will drop out, I would then feed the power for either the fuel pump or Coils through the relay contacts so that when the relay drops out the feed is cut.
I would also fit an over ride toggle switch on the dash just in case

How about wiring it in series with the run/cut-out switch? Would that not be the simplest way to do it?
