Errrrrr the 998r has the "short stroke" motor. 104x58.8 as does the 999r

The 996r and the 999s doesn't 100x63.5

Go to Ducati.com where the current models can be compared with those of yesteryear

I'd go for the one in best condition out of whats available (probably TP's)

On the basis of the use BDG puts his 996r to I would recommend the 996r for short journeys, ideal for someone who doesn't do many miles

The 998r is a superb long distance tourer more suited to HIGH mileage riders .
