Race Teams 2006

I was thinking about Desmo Due for next season and thought I would run this by you guys (and Lin)
I think Alan & Charlotte did a great job this season with a great team effort but did not get recognition in the same way that the riders did (points) and this got me thinking about next year.
We as a family are also intending to run a bike in each class next year (our son Jed should be on a 600 Monster) and we plan to have the same bodywork, colours and sponsors on each bike. (I am not riding the Multi next year I'm getting a Monster)
I think it would be good to have a points table for teams entered based on the points the individual riders scored even though it may not always be the same rider. If you had a guest rider on your bike, to score points they would have to fulfil the entry requirements for the class they were riding in. It should be easy enough to put a couple of extra columns onto MW's spreadsheet to keep people informed as to the team positions.
I think this could help to bring the two classes closer together and add another dimension to an already fantastic series.

Sounds a great idea Mike!

We didnt actually set out to do a 'team' this year - it just sort of 'evolved'. The different riders was not the aim of what we started with either - but we have had a lot of fun along the way.

We WILL be having 2 bikes next year tho - and this would be a great thing for us to aim at

It sounds like a good idea to me Being a 'pit bitch' for the past few years, it'd be nice to get some kind of recognition that there are more people than just the riders putting an effort into things sometimes

A good idea in principal, not sure how it would work in reality;

- Teams could have riders in both series, or 2 in one, points would vary?
- how many teams would actually be entered to make it viable?
- What if teams had more than 2 riders (couch) what scores would count.
- etc, etc, etc....

Nice idea in principal, not sure it really would work......

We could all enter under one DSC team and we'd all win (or lose)

I think it's a bit like all the other what if's. If enough people are interested then it can work. If the teams were to have two bikes one in each class it would produce a link between the two for anyone that was involved either as a team member (a lot goes on to get folks out onto the grid as most will know) or as a spectator. Anyone who does not feel the need to join or form a team need not be involved in this side of things and they would be able to carry on as we did this year. I just feel it would be nice to get more people involved in the whole event and to recognise them as part of the team that puts in the huge effort that goes into getting a bike/bikes onto the grid at all the meetings.

And the point is Why not? It would provide the link between the two groups and add an extra dimension to the series without any extra expence.

It would involve a team entry which would be extra effort and may not be of interest to some riders unless they were in the team spirit.
