Don't know what the torque settings are, but I do know it's best to make sure that you replace the plates in the same order they came out.

Actually, I do know the best way to sort your clutch out. Send it to Nelly and let him do it.

I don’t see the torque value for these listed in the manual. It’s more of a concern to avoid over-torque than to under-torque them. They really won’t come loose since they preload the springs. Use a 1/4-inch drive to just snug them up, 10-15 inch pounds should do it.

great it's back together and the noise has stopped

next question
the clearance on the tabs of the friction plates is in excess of the .6mm spec (this is from a 900ss haynes manual, it's the nearest i could find).every thing else looks good, there is slight notching on the basket.
so do i need to replace just the friction plates, the friction and smooth plates, or the whole basket and plates.
the bikes a 2001 st2 with 10k on it.

I tend to swap the plates around on mine when it gets to its last legs. Cleaning out the dust helps as well. Re the clearance to the basket, you will find that the edges of the fingers have notches in them where the friction plates hammer against it. You can dress these out with a file if they are bad. If the notches are a problem you will notice it when letting the clutch out as he plates stick in the notches.

Re plates, i replaced my standard steel set with the alloy set from the ST4S. Loads quieter, about the same money and they wont destroy the basket as quickly.

I wouldnt have thought that at 10k the basket would need changing. I dont hink you can buy separate friction and driven plates, at least not from Ducati. They come as a set for about £120 i think these days.

I just nip the pressure plate bolts up with a allen key set that i use on my mountain bike. Dont need to be very tight. The one time i used a longer bar i namaged to snap one with just the weight of the bar. Luckily managed to get the broken bit out and Nelly let me have some stainless ones so that was nice!!

Bargain! Thats what i paid about 12 months ago about from JHP when i changed mine. I just assumed they had gone up by now.

Best mod i made to my bike, especially as they are about the same price a a steel set.
