6000 mile service

Just had my 748s done and cost £418 with a winter discount, is this high or low?

Parts list shows things like 2 rocker gaskets and head o-rings etc + airfilter and plugs and the usual oil.

He said valves were adjusted and some shims changed and the rockers were ok but forgot to ask if he pulled the cams.

How many hours does it take got about £345 of that for labour

Can't wait until next years!!!

thanks Nick, it did seem to be a bit smooother to, will look in daylight tommorow to see what else they done.

Think they lubed the chain. I have not adjusted mine since new, as its still got 25mm slack and can only pull it off the sprocket a tiny bit.

Guess it was done at first service and may be when i came off in feb when it was there for a month, now on 3800 miles,
how often does it need adjusting, honda was like every 1000 miles?

Sounds good to me with valve adjustment too - I don't think I've ever had a service cost as low as that.........

Get it booked in with Cornerspeed, best prices and I know his books are filling up for early next year servicing, might be able to sqeeze you in but you will have to ring him and book it.

Not far from you at all.

Just let him finish mine before he gets yours in

Hiya Delooney, as Old Yella says its worth checking out Cornerspeed AKA Nelly off the board 01623 758877. He's only just off Junc 28 of the M1 so not far at all.

6K service

I consider that price very expensive.

I have had mine serviced by M&S Newcastle (Ducati dealer), who permit you to do your own 'easy servicing' and take what they would have charged off your bill. For example, do your own oil/filter/air filter and that will take approx £100 off your bill.

Since I have let them service my 2001 996 from new, I have had NO mechanical problems whatsoever over the past 13,000 miles. (Two tours and three track days included).

As a special winter deal they have offered me a 6K service, including belt change, rotor nut re-torqued, all for £175.00 all inclusive.

Now that's a good price.

Mood: Finally gotten over the 748R getting stolen thing. Actually, no i haven't !
Are they checking/setting your valve clearances for that figure?
If so you have a deal, if not then its not a service as far as i am concerned.
