LONDON, April 27 (Reuters) - World champion Valentino Rossi will be making his 100th start in motorcycling's top category, and 160th in total, in Turkey on Sunday. The following looks at his record in 500cc/MotoGP: - 2000 Race 1 - Made his 500cc debut on a Honda at Welkom in South Africa. Set fastest lap but crashed out on lap 13. 3 - Scored first 500cc points with 11th place in Japan. 9 - Won British Grand Prix, the first of 54 wins in the top category to date. - 2001 17 - Won first race of the season in Japan to take Honda's 500th grand prix victory. 18 - Took first pole in top category in South Africa. 30 - Clinched 500cc title in Australia. Rossi is only the second rider to win 125, 250 and 500cc titles, the other being Briton Phil Read. 32 - Took his 11th win of the season in Brazil. Only Australian Mick Doohan has scored more in one year. 2002 33 - Won first race of MotoGP era in Japan for Honda. 41 - Victory at Sachsenring in Germany was his seventh in a row, Rossi's longest winning streak. 44 - Took first motoGP title in Brazil with four races remaining. 47 - Celebrated 11th victory of the season, for second successive year, in Australia. 48 - Set a record for total number of points scored in a single season (355). 2003 60 - Brazil. Took his 50th podium finish in 60 starts. 62 - Won third title in a row in Malaysia. 64 - Set a record for top flight podium finishes in one season (16) and beat his points record with 357. 2004 65 - Became first rider to take back-to-back wins on different machines in premier class after switching to Yamaha and winning season-opener in South Africa. Also set record of 23 successive podium finishes. 79 - Clinched fourth title in Australia, becoming only the second rider to win back-to-back titles on different bikes. 2005 87 - Netherlands. Became the first Yamaha rider to win five races in a row in the top class. 93 - Malaysia. Secured fifth title in a row. 97 - Valencia. Again broke points record with 367. 2006 98 - Spain. Finished 14th in the season-opener, his lowest point scoring finish in the top class. 99 - Won in Qatar, equalling Doohan's tally of 54 premier class wins. Only Italian Giacamo Agostini has scored more (68).
