Had this trouble myself a little while ago. There is just no room for turning the spanner. In the end I used a hammer and an aluminium drift. This worked fine, and as long as you are careful no damage is caused. Just as a precaution I taped the frame in that area.
I've got one of those pivoted c-spanners in the garage - actually it is Mark's as it came with one of the shocks he bought. At least I think it's still there unless he took it back.
Glen, I'm around all weekend if you want to pop over on the bike and see if it works? I've also got a nice aluminium rod that would be ideal for use as a drift if not

I spoke to K-tech and they use a c spanner from Cromwell Industrial Supplies. I have ordered from Cromwell and should get it tomorrow. Must admit looking at the picture of it, I can't see how its going to work that well!
