Engine Paint

Noticed last week. That when I was cleaning the 999, after a ride.
That the silver engine paint. Mainly around the deep sump area, was coming away from the engine.
My local dealer Snells took some photos of the problem and e-mailed them to Ducati.
Found out this morning, that all will be fixed under warranty.
A new crank case will be fitted.
Which unfortunately means the bike will be in the workshop for a week.
A big thumbs up has to go to Snells for sorting out the problem quickly.

Clint

Ive had mine replaced as well. Whats going on? I thought it was me and a couple others? Seems like everyones is peeling off......must be costing Ducati a fortune!!! Not just 749/999's, Ive seen Monsters getting work done as well recently.

My Multistrada is in for some minor warranty bits as it runs out next week. One of the things I noticed was the large amount of paint missing from underneath. However I didnt bother asking them to sort it as I was worried that by having new cases etc maybe the engine would somehow be not quite as good as 'factory' if you get what I mean? I know the work would be done to the highest standard its just I didnt want to tempt fate by having my engine in bits. I will try and get some paint to match and stop the scabiness down below.

My Multi had new cases and front cylinder head last year.
With all the new bearings and stuff, its almost a new engine.

Had new headlamps shells on me old bike for same reason (the metal bit just in side the headlamp cut away - flaking).
It appeared (from one of the other guys on board who works in this area) that the metal fasteners seem to have reacted with the metal headlamp holders - dis-similar metals etcetera.

Snells have done both my monsters my 2002 750ie got done in late 2003 before being sold on, and then my 2004 m1000 was done within 6 months of purchase, as the paint started coming off 2 weeks after I brought it.
More likely to be 'found' on the Monsters & MS, cos you can see the engine clearly as its not hidden by plastic....

My 04 Multistrada has paint peeling off the cam covers, but nowhere else!
I'll just rub down the covers and repaint myself.
