engine temp

went out last night when i came to go through a town steady 30mph the temp rose from 80 to 103 and did not go down till i got back up to speed again . im going to check the fan is coming in by running it on the stand but can any body tell me at what temperature the engine has to get to before it kicks in or is this normal for it to get that high?

Very normal. My fans kick in over 100. Usually around 102 - 105ish I think.
