no spark from 888

the bike just cut out, removed the plug and there is no spark but smell of fuel i know i have to check lots of things but did i not read some where that the coils on the 888 are usually at fault.
i had to go away to work the next day so just trying to get some info before i get home and get out the multy meter

If I remember right one of the relays under the seat runs the fuel pump whilst the other runs the igniition side. Might be worth swapping relays around to confirm that these are OK ie do you then get sparks but no fuel pump.

Does the fuel pump run when turning ignition on? If so, then the ECU must be powering up OK and kill switch circuit is OK. Have you lost sparks to both cylinders? There are two independent ignition circuits so if sparks to both cylinders are down it is most likely to be an ignition sensor/wiring/ECU problem.

Relays, check them!! Cost me 170gbp one day in forfeited race entries....
