Datatool or Meta

OK, I'm torn between the two. I'm getting my old, troublesome immobiliser removed on Thursday and replaced with a brand spanking new £300 jobbie.. but which to choose???

Datatool System 3 or Meta 357t thingy.

Who has what?

I'm going to be swayed by which one is fitted to the most Dooks!

Mines fitted with the Datatool Veto Evo, been on there 2 years and 15000 miles and seems to do the job....

Had the same on my old CBR600FX, again 2 years, 12000 miles, no probs ....

Datatool Veto Evo for me too

Mines had to be replaced twice now and is playing up again but it is covered by warranty and I now know how to bypass it so wont get stuck again.
But a new alarm every year its been fitted is a bit much me thinks?
Keep up with the warranty if you are getting the datatool, mines up for renewal and is worth the extra £25-£30 for two years warranty if it breaks down again.

Went for the Datatool System 3 in the end. Nothing in it, but seemed to get the most recommendations here.

Had it fitted today by "Safe and Sound" in Hemel Hempstead. www.bikealarms.net, 01442 235591. Nice chaps, took out my old immobiliser and tidyied it all up.. pukka job.

Meta 357T V2.

Realy easy to work and can sit there for a week or more without draining the battery.

Meta 357T for me. I initially went for the Meta for two reasons: they could build the zapper into the key, car-stylee, and the alarm was actively armed separately from the immobilisor, so you didn't need that irritating chirrupping "service mode". I think in both cases that the latest Datatools overcome these objections; they didn't back then.

However, they haven't been without their niggles. In fact, I'm awaiting a replacemenr unit now! To be fair, it's never left me stranded or unable to start the bike, though.

One outfit I would strongly recommend is the fitters I used, Peak Motorcycle Security. They're based in Leicester, but will travel to fit your alarm no problem; they came to Bristol and fitted mine at my work. They've done a good job, and have always been prepared to sort out any niggles FOC.
