2004 999R advice please
Well, after some 3 years of inexcusable procrastination, I’ve finally put my money where my heart is. I finally concluded that a 2005 999S was exactly the bike for me, so I’ve just put a deposit on a brand new 2004-spec 999R!

This’ll be my first Ducati and, whilst I can’t wait, I’m hoping that the experience won’t be too emotionally (or financially!) draining. Since putting the money down, I keep waking up in the middle of the night with flashbacks to the late 70’s, when a friend bought an 860 GTS. I think he managed to get it on the road for two (not consecutive) days in three years. But of course things are a lot better now………

I’ll be getting it next month, so I need to start thinking about the usual bits and bobs. I know there’s been a lot written on here about these things before, but I’d like to tap the current thinking about the best huggers, double-bubble screens (I’m 6’ 3”) and something to tidy the rear end (ahem!). As importantly, what ones should I avoid?

All advice gratefully received, and I look forward to seeing you on the road v. soon.

D/P performance high screen not a d/bubble spoils the looks.

Tail tidy from anywhere, motrax i think is £25, raises the No plate up away from the rear tyre.

Keep to d/p carbon for a hugger etc as there is so much carbon on the bike you want it all to match with its weave.

57mm termi or leo vinci exhaust, power commander set up at jhp - there or there abouts 150bhp.

Thatll keep you going for a while.........

It wasn't my fault (honest!). Spartacus put a post on here about the deal 3X were doing, and.........well, it would've been rude not to. You know how it is.

1. Make sure you get the correct paddock stand.... otherwise it could possibly when hell freezes over before you see the correct one.

2. Screens, plenty around, usual suspects for them JHP/AJR/Nelly

3. Tail tidy - Nelly has them in, mine should be on it's way

And where in the UK are you?

Well done, but this accessorising is compulsive!

Since taking delivery of my 749 10 days ago, I've not been able to resist the temptation to add hugger, screen, cover, additional stickers, and with plenty of carbon on the wish list. I've never felt the need to tinker with any of my previous 20 or so bikes.

Good luck.
