Question 1980 900S in need of overhaul - Any recommendations

I want to put my 1980 Black/Gold 900SS back on the road but it will need some work doing after being stored since 1999. Can anyone recommend somewhere that could work on an old Ducati such as this. I would prefer it to be local to where I live in Lichfield, Staffs and am struggling to find anything for older Dukes that is close to me, thanks

Hi there, well done on having for me, one of THE most classic Ducati's of all time.

I think there are pretty big numbers involved in a full nut and bolt rebuild and sadly I know of no-one local to you but, have heard and read good reports on:

We did an article on Made In Italy motorcycles in our club magazine "Pronto" a couple of editions back; their work looks fantastic and they do specialise in classic Ducatis.

Hi and thx for the update.

Not looking for a full restoration at the moment just want to get it back on the road and Suffolk is rather a long way for me to travel.
Maybe once I get it back on the road I could take a trip.

I'd give Neil at Cornerspeed a ring.

An independent Ducati specialist, his work on modern Ducati's is impeccable.

Only 20 miles away from you, if Neil wouldnt take your bike on, chances are he'd know who would!

Good luck - Frank

Hi Frank.

I have spoken to Neil but he only really does belt drive engines.
He has suggested I speak to a comppany called Ducati Technical services. I may give them a call but they are in Wakefield, which again is a bit of a jaunt.
The search goes on ...

Thats the extent of my Bevel knowledge, I'm very sorry to say.

DTS are well respected but it is a one-man operation and with racing season start approaching he might well be busy.

I'm getting the impression you are looking at a refresh/service rather than full rebuild? Good luck.

Here is DSC thread that might be of use?
