I am hoping someone can help me please.

After the last track day, hurridly fitting my wing mrrors back on I remember thinking at the time that I the allen key was 'slipping' when I tightened the single securing bolt on my rh mirror.
I have just tried to take off my nose cone and lo and behold I cant get the bolt out. Left hand fine, but right hand I think I have knackered the head of the bolt.
What can I do please - does anyone have any good ideas?
I started to remove the headlight/instrument unit but I am guessing it there is no easy way to disconnect the wires.
As I said -- Any ideas would be welcome?

Will it tighten ,if so tighten it untill the shear snaps,fit a new bolt job done.

not got bike handy as its in another place but could you chisel the head off?? small cold chisel??

can you carefully tap a torx bit into the rounded bolt socket?, it might pick up on one of 2 edges which could be enough to get it moving

I am afraid the bolt head is recessed.
I will certainly try the torx route - back soon.

First of all they are made of butter as it is their job to snap should you have a spill!

Secondly were talking about a fine piece of engineering............overtighten, hammer, cold chisel.......jesusss, what kind of animals are you?

I like the idea of using a torx, that may be the best solution. However, for what my opinions worth, i would take it to an engineer, someone that has both the right kit, and the know how!

The torx t20 seems to be promising. However I only have the L shaped key but even tapping that is having an effect. So, I will wait and get a torx socket and try with that.
If not that doesnt do it then, as Andy b suggests, it's off to the professionals. An engineer or someone like Sigma who are fairly local in kent??

Mind you if its made of butter deliberately so it can easily snap off............

You've got 3 options.

1. Use a punch with a sharp point on the end (grind one on if you have to) to tap the outer edge of the bolt head round in an anticlockwise direction. It's surprising how often this works!!
2. The torx solution mentioned above is a good one. Drill the hole slightly bigger if necessary, and then hammer the torx bit in.
3. If all else fails, drill the bolt out!
