Hi Grant

Depends on what you are looking for from the racing. Desmodue good, great paddock and close racing, bikes crash well and mostly bulletroof. All about corner speed and not much bling. Not much elase you can race it in

916 be good for several series' and parts seem plentiful still, power without scary power!

Then there is th 1*98 bikes...scares me just thinking about it

DD is the way to go if you have never raced. Ive learned so much this season about race craft and as bradders said ''corner speed''.

Pretty sure Dallas's 916 Scared him when it pinged him about 20 foot in the air as it Highsided him coming out of Spitfires at Pembrey. Never had that problem with mine but I don't carry the same lean angles as him.

A lot depends on your budget as tyre bills mount with the more power you have
Just rough figures

DD = 53 or 65 bhp
MiniTwins = 72 bhp
916 in SoT or Class1C etc = 105 bhp
996 in SoT or Class1C etc = 115 bhp
998 in SoT or Class1C etc = 125 bhp
1098/1198 in SoT or Maxitwin etc = 150/160 bhp

Hi Grant

I'm 6ft1 and found the monster tank really uncomfortable, which is why a lot of people replace the tank and seat ! But that definitely puts the budget up.

I think the SS is much more suitable for 6ft+

Co-incidentally, I have recently decided that mine has to go and make some space in the garage.
It hasnt been run for a year, but if you are interested I'll do a mini service and get it running.
It doesnt have fairing panels - just the front section, and a proper SS single seat unit, and is not one of these flash bikes.
I would like 1k for it, but am open to sensible offers.
It will need the new tyres to be eligible as it still has diablos on, but I can fit those at cost.
It looks something like this...
