As you all stated, people can offer what they like,my SP5 is not for sale. And yes,i was offered £12,000 twice,by different people. It takes along time, alot of effort to get these SP's and the majority of owners will never sell.Unless i bin it at TA4,then i might!!

I was offered £7500 for my modded strada with all its standard bits too when it was on the DSC stand at popham last summer !!

But like 90% (and were working on Simon )..of the 851/888 owners in here she AINT for sale..EVER !!

£7500 sounds a bit rich for a '94 strada but the front brembo setup alone is worth £1600 to buy new, so all of a sudden doesnt seem so daft..? People are just willing to pay silly money for very good 888's (remember that guy from Ireland who kept pestering us to buy our stradas WVT..!!?), yet sometimes they struggle to sell on ebay !!?? Weird...

Had a look at that (admittedly stunning!) SP4, and a few suspicions (hang on, let me just do my zip up on my anorak )

1) Yoke says 561..thought there were only 500..?
2) Fairing decals arent right..the number 8 should be white, with a border of grey, then black..?

Mind you...with regards to the decals, the factory just lobbed on what they could find at the time didnt they !!! Wouldnt be surprised if they just ran out, and nipped down the local signwriters to get a few knocked up

And that number 1 on the fairing..are they not laquered on ?? As simon says his doesnt have it either ?!

Cheers
Nat

The first 100 SP4s where SPS so gen SP4 are from 101 to 600.

I'll get my coat.

It looks like the seller really did get cold feet. A chap in the US who's been in contact with him and asked why the auction was ended early says..

"He's a bit frustrated w/ Ebay. Has gotten considerable offers off Ebay.
Needs guidance. Doesn't quite know what he has. I've been assisting".

Doesn't quite know what he has!? You wouldn't think it to read his sales pitch! It seems to me he knows exactly what the bike is. Looks more like he's just realised he could have asked for more. If it re-appears on eBay, what's the betting his reserve has increased?

Re: The number on the top yoke..
On another post by RightSaidFred, his bike's top yoke is shown. He's fitted SP4 yokes to his Strada, and the badge is numbered "048". Looks like someone has scrapped an SPS!

No number on board
Only the SPS had the number 1 in the fairing board to celebrate previous rider victories(Raymond Roche and retained by Doug Polen),the SP4 did not have a number in the white decal.
to check if its a real SPS and not an interloping SP4 check for cooling fan different radiator and carbon tank / tail peice exhausts and vented clutch cover.
