What to believe????????

Hello
I have recently been offered a 2002 999 with 3000 miles on the clock with only 2 owners. This particular bike is in perfect unmarked condition and I am very tempted to purchase it.

However I have been advised by someone who services them for a living to leave well alone!!!

He advised that pre 2006 999's should be avoided due to the following problems:

1. Weak/faulty main engine bearings
2. Faulty alternators (the bike does have a flat battery, which makes me wary)
3. Electrical problems with immobilisers, coils and clock assemblies.
4. Weak/cracking swinging arm assemblies.

Any advise in agreement or disagreement would be very much appreciated.

Did the 749 have similar issues?

Many thanks

Richard
