Just seen a 998 Final Edition

I was having my tank replaced on my 748s and I noticed the new 998 final edition. Looked very similar to a standard red 998 apart from ohlins forks and steering damper. Italin flag graphics on the seat unit looked a bit old fashioned. Had limited edition plate on yoke to. All for £13,400 when a standard 998 is around £10,000.

Makes my 748s seem cheap now.

Thanks

Yep, I gotta agree.......

..........they had one at the NEC show and it didn't look like anything special at all.

I was expecting a tricked-up, carbon-shod beauty, but it left me a bit cold.

I suppose they'd rather charge a lot for a model that's cheaper to make and hence open it up to a larger market, than make a very expensive carbon model that would only suit (be afforded by) a small part of the market.

If you consider it's a 998S - not a Biposto - and they were the same price when available new then what Ducati is asking is about right.

And its got ohlins forks as well.

Its just a slightly tarted up 998s mono with better forks!

Better forks yes,but tarted up?
Nah!
The graphics do nothing for the bike,my 998S mono looked better ,IMHO
For a "Final Edition" the bike just does'nt look special enough.I reckon it would have looked better in silver like the 900ss FE.

I have a 2002 998s Mono and would definitly not sell/swap it for one of those.

Wasn't impressed at the NEC, and as a final edition very poor. Totally agree with keefyboy would have been nice in silver, perhaps a bayliss/smart rep 998 from imola.

I think it would have been interesting to see it in the dark yellow/almost orange of the old 750 Sports of 1975 with white number boards and perhaps the old style lettering as on the original 750/900ss tanks.
