butch i am waiting for comfirmation from chris b as to wheather or not i'm legible for 583 but if the 583 competitors feel i shouldn't be in that class then i shan't, i've not seen a draft of the rules regarding 583 but i thought as domski and perhaps weeksy 2 (race gods) are looking to do 583 it might be usefull for me next year. no offence taken.

Strange how last year there were only a handful of 583s out on the grid with a large majority of Novices racing Class A bikes as in 620s and 675s. Personally I see the 583 as a cheaper class to enter and as I have said for years "race what you can afford to crash" and by that I mean basically Write Off.

The most I can stand to lose by totaling my 583 is £2050 but even a few bits should be salvageable. I have already had a £4k race bike written off in 2004 and would prefer not to have it happen again.

I see 583 as a DSC members class for those that ride Ducatis on the road or trackdays and want to do a bit of racing in the company of their mates that they have met through other DSC events including the well run and well behaved DSC trackdays and without the cost of racing curtailing these other DSC activities. Something I feel I proved was possible this season.

I agree with those sentiments Kev, the only way i could afford to go 620 would be to sell my 748R which would have a direct inpact on my life in the DSC, and its a sacrifice im not willing to make.

That's probably why we meet up on the odd rideout now and then Phil and considering how strong your local DSC group is not taking part would mean you would be missing out on quite a bit.

As I mentioned Racing isn't all about what I can afford to race more a case of what I can afford to loose each year through racing.
Hence why I advocate cheap racing
