I have only gone & bought a 999
After much deliberation at least 5 minsfollowing a test riding a 749 & a 999 I bought a 999 with 1500 miles on the clock and a years manufacture's warranty left. The difference in the riding position to the sps is enough to notice and appears to be a little kinder on the wrists. That 998 engine pulls like train very similar in fact to my sps and those brakes are amazing! The only real moan is those mirrors are pants, cant see a thing and i thought the sps was bad!It just goes to show time is a healer cause 12 months ago i did not like the shape but now i do i suppose you just have to move on.

I seem to remember the headline in Superbike Magazine when the 999 came out.
"You may not like it now,but you will."

BTW,I find it easier to look under my elbows in the mirrors, rather than over.

Glad you got sorted Bazzer, I found the 749 a far more rider friendly bike to my 748. Decided I'm going to keep my 749 and get out on it more this year, I'm even going to to do the DSC trackday on it .
