Said similar on another thread. Knackered in what way? Cosmetically? No damping? In my view it would probably be a lot easier to have them refinished/rebuilt/revalved by a decent suspension tech than buy yet another set of forks to faff about with - after all, there is no guarantee that the new forks wouldn't need fettling either

when i was striping them the two bottom pinch bolts were cross threaded and got one out but the next one was solid and the botton part of the fork has broke so i either need a new slider and a rebuild or second hand forks and take a chance.
i think the forks on the 900 ss old type are the same they look like the ones on my superlight.
anybody have any info??

Yep,pretty sure the Showa forks on the carbed SS's are the same as 851/888.

yes, the 900SS ones are the same as the showa equiped 851's and the 888 strada. if you can get a pair off a later model SS, as in 96 and 97 being the last of the old shape, i think they are the same as the sp5 ones. these are a darker colour with brown, not silver fork bottoms.
don't bother with monster ones, the first models were unadjustable and the later ones were a lower quality adjustable (apparently)
