Vibrating Wing Mirrors

Hi,

My wing mirrors have taken a turn for the worst. they were never that great but they REALLY vibrate now and I think they must have loosened up internally. Is there any way to tighten them up? Tightening them up to the fairing dosn't make any difference.

Thanks

Remove them from the fairing and you'll see a screw inside them. Undo the screw and the ball joint should come apart. Roughen both parts with coarse sandpaper then re-assemble.

You can even replace the screw with an allen bolt if you really want to tighten the joint up.

If you do a search for mirrors in the SS forum you'll find more answers.

Check your fairing screws are all tight. Mine seem to have a habit of coming loose, especially the upper rear screws on the fairing lowers. I've managed to loose the screws and the fancy washers twice in the last 5 years.
The first signs are that the mirrors vibrate more than normal.

All SS mirrors seem to do this - particularly the left one for some reason.

When you tighten up the inner screw, try a drop of loctite - it stops the screw loosening with vibration.
