Oil for Monster 620Sie

The oil leak has got to the point where I have a puddle in the garage and the level is below the lower line. My manual says Shell Advance Ultra 4 but at 8.30 at night the only garage round here didn't have that. I have 5 litres of Total Quartz 7000 10W40 - can I top up my oil level with that or is that just too stupid a question to ask? I have no idea how to do an oil change and frankly at this time in the evening that's not going to happen, and I'm riding the Monster to WSB tomorrow so need a solution and I need it fast!

AFAIK - you can top up your oil with this and it'll be fine - I'd go with the recommended oil for a complete change though.

Is that a car oil? Not sure i'd use it in the monster with a wet clutch if it is.

What time are you setting off in the morning? Is there a Halfords on your route that might be open? Any of the lads going past your house who could drop a pint or two of the right stuff in for you?

One of the guys on the Monster site has just said that car oil additives in the car oil will make my clutch slip but another has said the oil I have is better than none. Do I have to look for special bike oil though because, not having made any study of this type of thing, I've never even noticed that oil is sold as either car or biek oil. Why can't they just take the Ronseal route and say exactly what it does on the tin????
