advice needed for fitting female QR items on tank

Hi All

I am about to fit two new female quick release units to the bottom of my tank. (748 bip)
They were difficult enough to remove but can anyone give advise on the best way of fitting the new ones as they are awkward to get a spanner to to tighten up fully without damaging the connector.

How tight do they need to be is just over hand tight acceptable?

Would a bent spanner be appropriate?
All suggestions welcome.

What's wrong with a socket, or will it not fit?

19mm socket does not fit over the spring clip however it fits over the plastic without the metal spring clip in place but getting that all back on once located looks a problem ? Is this the method to do it?

Just had a look and NO this is not the best way!

In that case, I would buy a cheap spanner and bend it, maybe even weld a socket onto it so you can use a ratchet/torque wrench on it; similar to what people do for the cylinder head nuts: http://www.ducatisportingclub.com/sh...ad.php?t=54258

I take 'em apart, screw them in and the reassemble. Not difficult or fiddly. Make sure that you don't overtighten and ensure that you can actually release the clip as it can catch the pump housing...

Nelly thanks for that, so what / how is your method of dis-assembly accomplished I have looked at the old one and popped the spring on the push side, how then do you remove the tiny plunger and other spring from under the metal slider part

Push the plunger into the coupling, below the plate, and then the plate/spring etc. are free to pull out. Don't lose any of the bits though
You need to position the plate so that the pin can be pushed through though but it's pretty self evident.
