Just bought a polishing kit that attaches to a drill, clamped the drill in a workmate vice then set it away and moved the pipework around the drill which I found to be much easier than trying to hold the drill and the pipework at the same time. Took about 4 hours in total to polish but by then I was getting sick so even though it is nice and shiny I could have gotten it even better. The kit cost about £15 uk.
