Anyone live near Abingdon, Oxfordshire?

I need an impartial view of the weather there and the likelihood of cars getting in and out tomorrow morning. All via main roads.

I normally head from Clapham out the M4, around the M25, up the M40, take the Oxford turn off, around the ring road and down the A34, take the north Abingdon exit and head into town on the A4183 to the town centre.

It's to pick up my kids and their mother is trying to stop me seeing them again ... any help will be greatly appreciated

The Marcham interchange where you exit the A34 to enter Abingdon is currently a No go area, I will be driving it past it later on my way home I hope. On the way in this morning the A34 southbound from Oxford to Abingdon was running really well but the idiots have now fouled up the roads
M4 from Reading Junction 11 westbound has been a problem for the last two days and the A34 Northbound from the Cheivley A34 Junction is Blocked right up to the M40 at Bicester.

Bit South of us but by and large people are driving like right perlonkers so it only takes one to do something daft and abandon their car and you've got a real snarl up on your hands. The dual carriageway just up the road is pretty bad and at this rate (if forecast is correct) it will freeze overnight and probably not get salted.

I'd be wary of going North at the mo Tony!.

Just had an email from a Place in Abingdon that does some High Voltage testing for me saying the equipment is ready to pick up, normally I would do it as I drive past on my way home, but not today me thinks

Well I'm at work in Abingdon and although the town rds are ok I've heard the A34 to and from Didcot is closed. The water left yesterday has turned to ice with snow on top= ice rink and lots of cars have been spinning out.
My village is 10 miles away with 2 miles of untreated rd. Great fun in my TT with all 4 wheels spinning and the traction light flashing.....fun over now as on route in the engine management light has come on again. Third time this yr!
Think I'll leave picking up the 748 with its new tires on tomorrow...

Thanks for your help everyone. It's hard to find a balance here because she tries it on at every opportunity to stop me from seeing them and generally being a pain in the a .... but the kids, and their safety, have to come first so what I'm hearing so far is that it's not really a good idea to try it tomorrow.

Could you please keep this thread updated during the afternoon/evening though? Especially you Nev748 as you're actually in Abingdon. They are literally 5 minutes walk from the town centre.

Thanks again.

With the lack of salt available its going to be down to overnight conditions; if it freezes again it will be a right mess.
