could anyone let me know what clutch plates are standard with the 996r. I have had conflicting info, sintered plates and then standard plates, I prefer to go with nelly but hacketts said sintered????

Sintered ones are fitted at factory, they are better and last longer (ish) but more expensive. (even with your DSC discount)

I've known guys on R's and SPS's who use the standard ones without problems when the sintered ones are worn, depends how many race starts you want them to last!!!!

I've never know a new standard clutch to slip (except when the springs are worn)

Common sense really, and budget. A new standard clutch is better than a worn sintered one.

on average i get about about 10k miles out of standard clutches on various bikes, Nelly fitted a STM 48 indent type clutch instead of standard 12 type clutch. ( note i have read somewhere that there is a school of thought that this type of clutch is not good on the higher powered bikes) but after more than 7000 miles it is exhibiting very little sign of wear both on the plates and in the clutch basket).

May be worth considering if you need a new basket as well.
