Sorry...Another Slipper Clutch Question

After some truly horrendous downshifts on last Monday's sodden Brand's trackday, I have decided that a slipper clutch is required ASAP. can anyone who knows about these things tell me if the mounting holes on the clutch basket on this one look knackered, or is this how they're meant to look?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1

I know a few people are looking at these, if anyone's going to bid for it, let me know, and I'll wait for the next one.

Many thanks, Ian

I think what you are looking at is the residue of the loctite used on the bolts that hold the basket in place. From what I have heard these clutchs are a good deal and worth having.

I have one, Nelly was impressed with the quality of the item.

I've had no issues with mine. I would check to see whether it has bearings or not and take some advice on what you need to do to maintain one without bearings.

It looks like a 6 poster which I thought he'd run out of which may have the bearings. The 4 posters didn't and need more maintenance that I was't prepared to do.

Many thanks for those responses...now I just have to decide which one to get...I'll check whether the original one I saw has bearings, as suggested.
Cheers, Ian

Another quick question...the Ducati Corse Slipper listing on ebay says:

"YOU WILL NEED TO GET A NUT AND SHORT SPACER FROM YOUR DUCATI DEALER IF YOU ARE FITTING TO STANDARD ROAD BIKE ( PART NO.74810131A - £4.95 AND SPACER £28 ) "

Does anyone know whether the 996r has a "standard" clutch or a "Race" clutch as original equipment? I have read some reports which mention a "race" clutch, but wonder if that just refers to the fact that it came with sintered pads as standard. I would hazard a guess that I would have to get the parts as per above, but am on a bit of a tight timescale, as my bike is being ferried out to Jerez on the 10th or 11th. Any insights much appreciated. Cheers, Ian

So you'll be up in 5 hours Ian???

Your bike just has a standard clutch, the race bikes use this clutch and as far as I am aware they need a different nut maybe due to size, thread etc probably as it's a different shaft/thread on a race engine..

Thanks for that Info Jon.... I'll take a calculated risk on the bid...don't think I'll stay up to 2 am, if an insomniac out bids me, so be it!

I've been watching it for a while, but I won't be up then to bid, and I'm not doing any sniping, saying that I have a Bucci slipper, but think I need to go the whole hog

I do have a man who can though, think I might enquire at Oulton at the weekend
