At Anglesey race 1 my clutch kept grabbing when trying to launch from the start and put me from 2nd row to probably 4th as bike just slipped and bogged down!!!! got it back tho by 2nd corner

So few questions need answering


Have taken my clutch off, plates look to be ok, whats best to clean them with?

The inner clutch basket/hub looks bit worn. Think the plates might be catching on it and not allowing them to part when clutch lever pulled in. Has this been heard of before? Anyone got a spare lying around the shed?

The outer clutch basket too seems to have a bit of freeplay how much is suppose to have if any?

Then found play in the oil pump sprocket, how much suppose to be in it?

I take the blueing off the metal plates with a fine 3m flap wheel. I clean the friction plates with clutch cleaner. If you have an enlcosed clutch cover consider removing the rubber gasket and putting 2 washers, per bolt, between the cover and engine case to allow all the crap to escape. Stops the graunching.

Thanks for the cleaning tips but the clutch is a wet clutch not a open dry clutch.

i would definately make sure it is super well bled,as it all heats up any air will expand (i have seen it completely disengage a clutch !!)thus actuating the clutch to a greater or lesser degree.

Will do. Think I'll be making a clutch holding tool 2moro at work to see if can sort the clutch out.

Found my problems.
Inner hub with loads of wear, so plates catching on them. So new one needed.


Clutch basket bearing is fooked so needs changing and i take it the sleeve would need changing too?
