999S Power
Can anyone explain to me how the 'S' makes 13bhp more than the 'base' model?
Looking through the Ducati website engine specs appear to be the same.
Has anyone tinkered there 999 yet with exhaust/chip/filter to achieve a significant power gain? Just curious.

Amongst all my mods for my 999s I fitted a full Termi exhaust system.

Although the bike had only done 900 miles and therefore the engine was still tight it produced 129 bhp at the rear wheel on the dyno.

Don't know if this is good or not however it compared well with the 134 bhp from my friends R1.

Once my bike has loosened off I think it will give out more.

The 999S has the deep sump testastretta engine as fitted to the 996R and 998S , the internals of this engine are quite different to the standard engine , titanium conrods etc , this allows the engine to rev slightly higher with the resulting power gain

I have a 54mm full system on order for my S , the kit comes c/w high performance air filters and a new ECU , this is suppposed to increase power by 8%........which is nice , if the stuff ever arrives (help Georgina ) I will let you know if it feels faster.

It'd also be interesting to see the % power gain on a standard bike with full system.

After 6 months wait my full termi kit with the titanium rear box for my S has arrived and is being fitted right now. Its the 57mm system and a bloody plumbers nightmare. The pipes run equal lengths - 2 into 1 into 2, footrest and rear brake master cylinder need to be moved....

Big thanks to Georgina who kept the pressure on. Only 5 sets released worldwide with one coming to the UK - for me!!! If anyone else has a set on order I believe September is the next round of deliveries.

They look the business, I'll post a update next week re power changes etc. In the mean time I'll just keep grinning....

Very annoying...till September...till September...till September

The DPerformance catalogue claims an '8% increase in torque and power' for the stock model.

The power difference is the cams. Everything else is identical (barring rods and sump)

The 999 produces 116-120hp at the rear wheels. With the termi system it increases to 121-124hp.
The 999S produces 127-129 standard and 132-135 with the termi's.
The 999S and R can be fairly easily modded to get 145hp at the rear wheel.
You can do the same with the 999 by changing cams.
